Boot Sector Virus

A boot-sector virus places code in the boot sector of a disk. When the computer tries to read and execute the code in the boot sector, the virus program is started in your computer and gains control. A boot-sector virus can spread to other devices on your system (floppy, network, etc.). When the virus is started, it usually runs your normal boot program, which it stores elsewhere on the disk, so your computer starts "normally", and the virus is concealed. This malware is also referred to as a boot virus, a boot-sector infector, and a BSI.
