Phishing is a type of deception designed to steal your personal data, such as credit card numbers, passwords, account data, or other information. Phishing scams usually come to you in email messages that lure you to a web site and ask you to fill out an online form to obtain some special gift or product.

Phishing scams usually come through email or instant messaging masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in what is made to appear as official electronic communication.
